Graduation Dinner & Prize Presentation and 25 and 50 Year BOptom Reunions The School of Optometry and Vision Science hosted its annual Graduation Dinner & Prize Presentation on the evening of Tuesday, 22 April 2008. Held in conjunction with this event was a 50 year (Class of 1957) and 25 year (Class of 1982) reunion of graduates. The evening was held at the Lakes Golf Club and was attended by over 100 guests comprising graduates, alumni, UNSW staff, prize donors, industry and association representatives, as well as family and friends. Professor Brian Layland toasted the graduates, regaling the audience with stories of what it was like to be an optometry student and optometrist when he graduated 50 years ago. The 2007 President of the Optometry Students Society, Ms Vienne Leung, responded and toasted UNSW on behalf of the graduating class. Professor Stephen Dain responded on behalf of UNSW and toasted the profession. Ms Lara Foster representing the NSW Division of the Optometrists Association Australia responded to this and welcomed the new graduates to the profession. This was followed by the presentation of the prizes and announcement of the successfully completed Faculty Vacation Research Scholarships 2007/2008. |
