Graduation Dinner Class of 2005 & 50 Year Reunion Class of 1956 & 25 Year Reunion class of 1981

The School of Optometry and Vision Science Annual Graduation Dinner and Prize Presentation was held on Tuesday, 16th May 2006.

The event was attended by over 100 people, including the Class of 2005 graduates, prizewinners, prize donors and sponsors, optometry students, and friends and family of the graduates. The event was a memorable one since it included with the celebration of the 25th reunion of the Class of 1981 and the first ever 50th reunion. Half the class of 1956 attended. The toast to the graduates was proposed by Dr George Amigo, one of the class of ’56, the first UNSW Optometry PhD and an Associate Professor in the school until his retirement in 1982.

Among the prizes awarded on the night were those for best overall performance and for outstanding academic performance in the various courses throughout the Bachelor of Optometry program.

The official UNSW Graduation ceremony was held earlier that day. It was presided over by Dr Jessica Milner Davies, Pro-Chancellor and daughter of Professor Kit Milner, Head of the School of Applied Physics and Optometry (until the School of Optometry was established). The Occasional Address at the graduation was given by Geoff Lawson, sports commentator, former NSW and Australian fast bowler, member of UNSW Council and BOptom (1984).
