Optometrists and undergraduate optometry students throughout Australia and New Zealand will provide a vital contribution to the project.  You will be invited to input via large-scale surveys, interviews and group discussions scheduled for mid-2009.

The Optometrists Association Australia and New Zealand Association of Optometrists are key project partners and, along with Optometry employer groups and member networks, will be assisting with practitioner communications and resource sharing.

You are invited to contribute to project investigations by sharing your thoughts and experience on graduate preparation for rural & remote optometry, and optometry services for elderly and low vision patients:

Click on the links above to access either survey NOW.

OPTOMETRISTS

Here’s how you can assist the project:

What are your perceptions of a career in rural or remote practice?

What’s stopping you from ‘going bush’?

Are you confident in dealing with elderly or low vision patients?

STUDENTS

Watch out for announcements from your school about the project and your participation.

Do you have an interest in improving eye health services in these fields in Australia or New Zealand?

Would you like to contribute to investigations into the role of undergraduate optometry education in preparing a rural- and low vision-ready optometrist workforce?

Do you wish to share information about your own activities and services, and how optometrists can link into these?

LOW VISION & RURAL HEALTH

Share your opinions on the attributes you would like  graduate optometrists to possess relating to skills suitable to providing eye care in remote geographic localities or low vision practice.
