Peer Mentors Recognised
The School of Optometry and Vision Science was pleased to recognise its peer mentors at an informal pizza lunch held for the mentors and their mentees on the UNSW Physics Lawn on Tuesday, 13 May 2008.
In 2008 we have a total of 50 mentees and 19 mentors. A/Professor Barbara Junghans presented each mentor with a certificate of recognition for their participation in the program.
The aim of the peer mentor program is to help students adjust from High School to University life. The program revolves around social interaction and support rather than academic tutoring and involves final year Optometry students mentoring first year BOptom BSc and BSc (Vision Science) students.
Events held include a scavenger hunt, bbq and harbour cruise (in conjunction with Optometry Student Society activities).
